Well, here goes.
About us.
My husband and I have started this together. Our kids have left home and we figured after years of neglect, it was time we focussed on ourselves. I was born a chubby kid and we both come from families of larger built people. We are both in our early 40's and its now or never i guess.
Our stats.
Dave (at starting date 25/1/10)
Weight 118.8kg, chest 121.5, waist 122, hips 125cm
Me (Bron)
Weight 122.5kg, chest 129, waist 130, hips 147cm
We have stuck to the kick-start plan almost religiously, only omitting onion which we cant eat, and substituting it for either radish or zucchini. We have just completed our first week, which i found quite hard for the first few days. And the water drinking has helped a bit although i tend to retain it a bit, but that can be sorted.
After a week our stats are now
Dave 113.5kg, chest 121,waist 114.5, hips 122.5
Me 119.3kg, chest 124.5, waist 123, hips 145.
From here on in its my blog, but I will add in Dave's stats so you can see how we are both going.
To tell the truth I was a bit disappointed that I had only lost 3kg after the first week although I realize that its still a good amount. I'm a comfort eater - when i don't feel good, i eat more, so this week has been quite a trial and yet I suppose proof to myself that I CAN do it.
I want to lose about 40kg and have set a time frame of around 6 months. Our daughter gets married next year, and I don't want to be the frump in the background for another family photo. My Older brother and sister have always referred to me as their 'big sister' and I want to be able to finally say that I'm NOT! This may sound a bit silly to some but it has been a thorn in my side for as long as i can remember. Now that I have my stress/depression under control, I want to lay this to rest too. And yes, I am doing it for ME! (although it would be nice to look nice in lingerie for our 25th wedding anniversary i must admit.)
Well, week 2 started this morning, here goes.
